The American Portuguese Genealogical and Historical Society (APGHS) published the work of the Amarals (Gil and Pat, I think), who walked the St. John's Cemetery in New Bedford, Massachusetts and recorded the tombstones. For those who don't know, St. John the Baptist Church was the first Portuguese Catholic Church in the United States (it has since closed). The cemetery associated with this church has many Portuguese people.
Ernest Cardoza was the last president of the APGHS before they closed shop. He kept the remaining books in his attic. He has found 3 boxes and only opened one. It had 12 books in it. He does not know how many books are in the remaining boxes. If you would like a book, it's $30 and includes postage. Even though the APGHS no longer is in business, he kept their account open. So make a check for $30 to the APGHS and mail to: Ernest Cardoza 5 New Carver St. Raynham, MA 02767 Cheri Mello Listowner, Azores-Gen Researching: São Miguel island: Vila Franca, Ponta Garca, Ribeira Quente, Ribeira das Tainhas, Achada -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Azores Genealogy" group.
