Cheri, The new rule for CA driver ID has been moved to 2020. You can get it now and should especially if you are renewing your license as my husband has done and it is a pain to get. You have to bring your birth certificate (no copy), social security card, and proof of where you live... they used our car registration AND they take photocopies of all of these!!!!! I was not happy about this. Not sure I trust them with copies of all these documents. If you go to renew your license without these and get the regular license(makes no sense) you have to pay again for the new one so go prepared!!!
