He's probably talking about the Rodrigo Rodrigues books. The Family History
Library has volume 1 only. It a 5 or 6 volume set and no longer in print :(

It does NOT cover 100% of the families of Sao Miguel and Santa Maria
islands. However, if you work you lines back far enough, you will tie into
something in the book.

Now, being a book, done by a human, there will still be errors. So you can
copy what's there, but you should go and verify as much as you can with the
records.
