You can try entering names in different ways and then check on how everything sorts when you do a search. I'm not a FTM user, but I don't think that program asks for Given Names and then Last Name. I think it just asks for Name and does the American thing of assuming the very last name is the surname. It doesn't work that way in all countries. When it prints out it comes out Maria da Gloria de Sousa all in a row. I would think that FTM does the same?
