Elaine, I am going to guess that your grandparents applied for Citizenship
around the 1935-1940 time period. As such they would have applied to the
Bristol County District Court which is in Taunton, MA. The records from
there are held in the Massachusetts State Archives located near the JFK
Library in Boston which is actually near Dorchester. I found several of my
greats paperwork there. I seem to recall they had the information on
microfilm at the time and I could make copies of the images. Because I went
there I was able to do the searching myself and the staff was very helpful.
I don't know what the policy is on mail requests but this web site may help
: www.sec.state.ma.us/arc/arcres/residx.htm

Some time after WWII the process for naturalization was taken by the US
District Courts. The records of naturalization for that period are kept in
the national archives. For Massachusetts that would be the one located in
Waltham. I have been there and I first had to look on microfilm for the
record I wanted then request to look at it. I took about a hour for them to
get it then I was able to look at the original in a viewing room and get a
copy made. As I recall it only cost around 50 cents for the copies. Once
again the staff there was very helpful.

Good luck in your search.

hi Rick,

They immigrated at the turn of the century and ended up in New Bedford,
MA. I found my grandfather's declaration on Ancestry, and sent in for
information for both grandparents only to find out that the USCIS had
nothing they could find. It was recommended I try the state judicial
archives, and sent them a request with money and never heard back from them
on those records.

If the Federal Archives have them in Waltham, that would be good to
know. I did ask the state archives in Dorchester whether they had anything,
and they said I could try and submit a request and they'd do a search, but I
haven't gone that route yet.

When did your grandparents become citizens? Where? Did they live in
