The use of* h**a**v**a**h* in* sh**e**mot* 1:10 is from the root,* hav*.Its syntax relates predominantly to the cohortative (see * b**e**reshit* 11 [3x], e.g.) as well as the particle* le*- (and sometimes both). It has a sense of 'belonging', 'having', or 'bringing' to the agent(singular or collective)and /or one's desire to do x.
Even-Shoshan seems to claim that* hav* is actually derived from a* pa'al imp **v**.** 'yhv'*, stating that the* yod* elides in the same way as the* nun*elides for * natan* in the* imp**v*. Thus, as the* tav* in* natan* receives a dagesh forte (in the* impv*.) so the* he* is* havah* gets a* qametz*.
