Not the last time I consulted The Brown -Driver- Briggs Hebrew and English
Lexicon p. 738 # 5810. I could still read very clearly the Hebrew definition
of `zz as: Strength, mighty, and strong:-)

Ps. Do you have a problem with this particular dictionary, if so, can you
explain?

  Subject: The root ZZ

It is all English, not Hebrew.

The root ZZ is a variant of
דד DD, זז ZZ, סס SS, צץ CC, שש $$, 'extend'.

From ZZ we have the מזוזה MZUZAH, 'doorpost', of Deut 6:9.
Also the זיז ZIYZ, 'nipple, protrusion', of Is. 66:11.
From CC we have the ציץ CIYC, 'bud', of Nu. 17:23(8),
and the ציצית CIYCIT of Nu. 15:38.

עז AZ is related to אז 'is' as in Gen. 12:6. Also to אץ AC, 'accelerate',
as in Prov. 28:20. Also to אט AT, 'decelerate', as in Is. 8:6.

Ishinan : What about the following :-)

    5794 `az strong, vehement, harsh:--fierce, + greedy, mighty, power,
    roughly, strong.

    5797 `oz ; from '`azaz' ; strength in various applications (force,
security,
majesty, praise):--boldness, loud, might, power, strength, strong.

5810 `azaz primitive root; to be stout (literally or
figuratively):--harden,
impudent, prevail, strengthen (self), be strong.

    EXAMPLES:

Neh 9:11, And thou didst divide the sea before them, so that they went
through the midst of the sea on the dry land;and their persecutors thou
threwest into the deeps, as a stone into the 'mighty' waters.

Psa 59:3, For, lo, they lie in wait for my soul: the 'mighty' are gathered
against me; not [for] my transgression, nor [for] my sin, O LORD.

Isa 43:16 Thus saith the LORD, which maketh a way in the sea, and a path in
    the 'mighty' waters;
