It is indeed possible that עיר IR is for 'city', or for ירה
YARAH, 'propagate', or for ירא 'feared', or for עיר AYIR,
'donkey' ($ALEM kept his ass there), or for אור OR, 'light,
fire' (a fire was kept there for $ALEM). But I would not exclude the
possibility that the last M is for 'water', and that YR is for 'flow'.
