I don’t know about Sepher Yetzirah, but in Biblical Hebrew מכונת MKWNT is
derived from מכונה MKWNH “stand, upon which objects are placed” from the
verb כון KWN “to establish, in the sense of setting up, making firm,
trustworthy”.
