Dear Martin,

Ecclesiastes is more of an argument from Solomon (yes I do believe that he is
the author) about life with the knowledge and wisdom of God in one's life
(chapter 12) rather life without God (under the sun). In fact, pointing out
that the poor have a clearer grasp of life than the wealthy or the elite or the
political leaders, because they trust God. Wisdom is putting the knowledge and
fear of the LORD into practice. This verse indicates that the leaders (elders)
of the city were arrogant about the wisdom of the poor.
