I'll stick to initials since I haven't asked for permission to publish Real-World identities.
Two students of mine, PJA and AR (who are on this list but haven't delurked yet) have spent much of their summer developing a GUI for Babel. The most interesting bit is the graphic network map, http://www.pps.jussieu.fr/~jch/software/babel/babel-tool-screenshot.png Some tuning remains in order to get the behaviour just so, but I have good hope that this effort will converge onto something generally usable within weeks at most. (Of course, it will be released as Free Software as soon as it's ready.) Some details: the map above is from the perspective of Huponomos. The blue line is the IPv4 default route. The GUI and Babel are communicating through a TCP stream, which means that we don't need to be running the GUI on the router. The geometry is computed using a modified spring model, which is what needs some more tuning. The current working name is ``BabelTool'', which I don't like very much. Somebody suggested ``Bab el-web''... which I'd rather reserve for an HTTP interface. Any other ideas? While I'm at it, two other students, YC and LF, are doing some other stuff which is perhaps even more exciting, but which I don't want to announce before I'm confident it will work. Juliusz
