I'm not convinced that many Android devices can operate in an adhoc mode...

It was something I wanted to confirm experimentally, but I hadn't got to it.
I have a debian chroot on my Android ASUS tablet (under Cyanogen), and
multiple phones (new and old), so I'd love to try your build...
