Dr. Looy is a plant ecologist who investigates the response of Paleozoic plants 
and plant communities to environmental change during periods of mass extinction 
and deglaciation, and the possible evolutionary consequences

Dr. Duijnstee teaches biological topics for geology students and vice versa. 
His research focus is the paleoecology of foraminifera, single-celled marine 
organisms whose shells easily fossilize.

The details:
Parking
Free parking may be available on the street on Middle Drive, along the back 
side of the Academy.  If no parking is available on Middle Drive, parking is 
available in the Music Concourse Garage.  Access to the South Entrance (closest 
to the Academy) is at Music Concourse Drive and Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive 
inside the park (these directions have been provided below).  If you prefer, 
access to the North Entrance is available at Fulton Street at 10th Avenue.
Directions to the Staff and Business Entry from the Music Concourse Garage
Exit the garage from the southwest corner doors (the doors furthest away from 
the de Young Museum).  Follow the path uphill, walking past Shakespeare Garden 
on your left.  At the end of the path, you will reach Martin Luther King, Jr. 
Drive; turn left.  At the next intersection you will encounter Middle Drive; 
turn left.  The Academy loading dock will be on your left.
Proceed down Middle Drive, to the Pedestrian Bridge.
Driving Directions to the Music Concourse Garage (South Entrance)
>From the North Bay/Golden Gate Bridge
>From the Golden Gate Bridge Toll Plaza take the 19th Avenue/Park Presidio 
>Boulevard exit and proceed through the tunnel onto Park Presidio Boulevard.  
>Stay in the right lanes as you pass through Golden Gate Park onto 19th Avenue, 
>where no left turns are allowed.  Turn right onto Kirkham Street, right onto 
>20th Avenue, and right onto Judah Street.  Take Judah Street to 8th Avenue, 
>turn right onto 8th Avenue, go one block and turn right onto Kirkham, then one 
>more block and turn right onto 9th Avenue.  (You cannot turn left off of 
>Judah, so you must make these three right turns to get onto 9th Avenue.)  Take 
>9th Avenue across Lincoln Way to enter Golden Gate Park, where 9th Avenue 
>turns into Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive.  Turn right onto Music Concourse 
>Drive.  The garage entrance will be on your right.

>From the South Bay/I-280 North
>From Daly City, take Route 1 North toward 19th Avenue/Golden Gate Bridge.  
>Drive approximately five miles on 19th Avenue just into Golden Gate Park and 
>take the first right onto Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive.  Turn left onto Music 
>Concourse Drive.  The garage entrance will be on your right.

>From the East Bay/I-80 West
Continue on I-80 through San Francisco for about one mile and then bear right, 
following signs for Golden Gate Bridge/US101 North.  Follow signs for Octavia 
Street and Fell Street; freeway ends at Market Street.  Cross Market Street and 
go four blocks, making a left turn onto Fell Street.  Go 1.5 miles on Fell 
Street.  Upon approaching Golden Gate Park, bear left onto Kezar Drive, which 
becomes Lincoln Way.  Proceed along Lincoln Way to 9th Avenue, turning right 
onto 9th Avenue/Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive.  Turn right onto Music Concourse 
Drive.  The garage entrance will be on your right.

Fees and Hours
The Music Concourse Garage is open 7 days a week from 7:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. 
year-round.
The parking rate is $2.50 per hour.
