This Bay Area Biosystematists meeting brings together people interested in
thriving as high throughput sequencing-generation projects enter the
university environment.
Featuring a diverse and distinguished panel of discussants, followed by
vigorous audience discussion. Panel members representing different areas of
genome research and approaches to data management and analysis will give
short presentations (this following a Mexican Meal).
*Panel:*
*Bryan Barney*, PhD Candidate, Hopkins Marine Lab, Stanford University.
Theme: Transcriptomics in non-model organisms, highlighting the practical
tools now available.
*Dr Paul Wolber*, Director at Agilent Technologies, and an Adjunct
Professor at SJSU. Dr Wolber has designed a course in Next Generation
Sequencing for Engineers, which is fostering diverse collaboration.
*Dr Alexandra Z. Worden*, a senior researcher at the Monterey Bay Aquarium
Institute (MBARI). Dr Worden has pioneered genome sequencing in
uncultivated micro-algae to develop knowledge of the ocean ecosystem and
carbon cycling.
*Dr Jordan Stockton*, Illumina, will talk about exciting upcoming
approaches to managing data through the online Cloud.
Schedule and venue:
