Dear all,
As is now traditional, we will have a special "outreach" Bay Area
Biosystematists meeting for Darwin Day. There will be is a general
talk that would be useful for students as well as faculty. You are
welcome to bring your classes on tours or to the talk. Be sure to
RSVP to [email protected] if you are coming for dinner.
The talk will be coordinated with other events in VLSB that day
celebrating Darwin's birthday (organized by the Entomology Students
Organization and the Essig Museum of Entomology) -- these are all the
more reasons to bring your grad students and classes over to Berkeley
for the afternoon/evening:
• Tours of the Essig Museum with additional specimens of Galapagos
finches, tortoises, and iguanas, live orchids, carnivorous plants,
barnacle fossils, and other specimens contributed by colleagues at the
Berkeley Natural History Museums. If you would like to join a tour (on
the hour from noon to 4:00 pm), please RSVP with Deanna Jackson ([email protected]
).
• Tours of the University and Jepson Herbaria at 3:30 and 4:30 pm.
Please RSVP with Andrew Doran ([email protected]).
• Toast and birthday cake for Darwin at 5:15 in the UC & Jepson
Herbaria in 1001 VLSB (front room of the Herbaria).
• Photo contest (evolutionary themed photos) in 1101 VLSB (the UCMP
Fishbowl) starting at 5:30. If you would like to contribute a photo
for consideration please contact Jennifer Imamura
([email protected]).
• Biosystematist's drinks and dinner in 1002 VLSB starting at 6:00
(see below).
