The whole idea of the /programmes and /schedule sections of bbc.co.uk are
they are permanent links to the content, so that inbound links never expire.

There are some programmes that have caused 'problems' when they appear in
different forms.  Omnibus episodes are one, but also there are cross-media
programmes (Doctor Who and Torchwood are both on TV and radio) and
cross-service programmes (Top Of The Pops stills runs on World Service
radio).

There are lots of useful things /programmes/ can do, for example sticking
/microsite on the end of the URL redirects you to the full site for a
programme that has one.

Shows today's Radio 4 FM schedule, but you can add .xml on the end to get a
feed.
