Just made the app more general. If you want to use another feed, then use
the Add Network Link option in Google Earth, and paste in this URL, changing
the URL parameter for your feed of choice (RSS/RDF/ATOM).

Nice. We had to change the .pl extension of the file to work properly but then saw everything smoothly with Google Earth.

Have you thought about producing not KML but pure RSS as output? That is, the same RSS that you receive, but with lat and lon attached.

We have created a geotagging site last week, Tagzania, http://www.tagzania.com . The pages displayed offer both outputs: RSS with geographic data (following the model described here: http://brainoff.com/worldkit/doc/rss.php ) and the KML file.

No BBC Backstage integration work done on the site yet, but we are thinking about possibilities.
