Probably in between the two - if I'm near a computer I'll definately read my email during the day, probably flick through USENET and then may well fire up snownews to check RSS feeds. Still, there is no reason not to gateway between blogs/wikis/forums and the mailing list, is there? To me, web based forums often seem to convey the same information as mailing lists or USENET newsgroups, only in a personally less convenient format. I don't think its worth starting a religous war over the presentation if all formats can provide access to the same basic info (or at least pointers to one another) so that folk can choose which they prefer.
If the worst comes to the worst, I can always turn an RSS feed into emails... :-)
