Some indexes (particularly ones with relatively less throughput, like Health and Education) include links to reference content like this Pregnancy Timeline page on their index. Our RSS feeds are based on the index content, which makes them more like lists and less like the standard time-ordered RSS feed which comes out of a blog. Stories are ordered on the index page by a human editor to create a page which represents (in a concise way) the breadth and depth of BBC News content on that topic for that day, most important stories at the top. So there is a bit of an impedance mismatch between index pages and RSS feeds which means occasional anomalies like this one. Using Simple List Extensions (http://msdn.microsoft.com/xml/rss/sle/) would help disambiguate things further, but it seems that most (all?) clients handle the elements in document order anyway. And we do have <pubDate> and <guid> in there so you can tell when we're feeding you something old, or more than once. I'm would still be interested to hear Davy's reason for not having Flash installed - just for anecdotal evidence - we do use flash for interactive presentations and it's very useful and widely distributed, but we're aware of all the problems and tradeoffs it brings with it. For the Pregnancy Timeline I can't think why we wouldn't have an accesible alternative so I will follow up on that.
