So - hurray - it's in the official Virgin Radio milestone roadmap: currently, the API will be written in April, though actually I'd like to implement certain things quicker than that (I could really do with a full list of where to find our stations, for example - so that bit might even be done in the next week, by me. Yikes, buggy code alert). To confirm: we will not have "bbc." at the front of the methods. (No, no "virgin." either). So, if you're coding now, please code in such a way that this bit's configurable. My initial coding will not support the TVAnytime format, it looks scary. When I give this to the proper developers later in the year, we should support TVAnytime, it's what I pay them for. Now, your help, please... Virgin Radio has one service on Freeview. Nearly all our channels are also carried on Sky Digital. BBC One appears to have a bizarre DVB location type of dvb://233a.1004,1044 - I've no idea what that means; but I guess Virgin Radio has a similar one (and, depending whether this is DVB-T or DVB-S, all our channels should have one). Anyway: I have no idea what our DVB url(s) should be. But, if you know, and you're the first to reply (!), you'll be the proud owner of a Virgin Radio lanyard to hang that ever-so-exciting ID card from. (Or, alternatively, a CD. Active Player, there's the 4OD player, there's TVP et al and sometime there may be a BBC iPlayer. Wow, watching TV from the Internet is going to be such a great user experience - I need which software for which channel?

Well, there isn't even a radio standard: we stream in Windows, Ogg Vorbis, MP3, AAC+, Real Audio, and we used to bother with Quicktime but have stopped. And we stream Windows in V8 (20k); V9 adaptive (up to 128k); and V9 multicast (192k). It does appear (rightly or wrongly) that radio is settling on Windows Media as a format for online use, though. I must be honest: I would rather that our radio stations were listened-to via our radio player, which offers additional functionality (not least, the name of the current song playing - sorry, BBC, I don't want to make you jealous) and, um, advertising, too.
