For an extensive example of indexing of an artist's different recordings, releases, mixes etc, take a look at the Hawkwind Codex - all released Hawkwind tracks, in all different versions, and which albums/singles each different version was on.

You could have songs, performances (renditions?) and tracks. You *might* have multiple tracks from a single performance. Consider all those deadheads with their 8 tracks of the same happening.
