DRM doesn't halt file sharing, and for those who it does restrict from sharing, it breaks the BBC's Web Principle #1: "Build web products that meet audience needs." Where is the "relaxed, conversational tone" of "DON'T DO THAT!"? So people will buy DRM kit initially, then realise they've been had, and be agitated. So yes, certainly today's rights holders will be less rich than they have been. But they can still earn money, and the trend is that more people will be earning money overall, its just spread thinner.
