The Big Picture - Looking ahead in relation to DRM

DRM will not be an issue in a few years time. Again the geographical landscape is changing and the underlying direction of the web is towards rich media and content in the form of electronic publishing and multimedia.

The combination of the two equates to the web as we know it, becoming in a commercial sense, another platform and revenue stream for large Media Broadcasting houses.

Hence the Move recently by major players in the industry acquiring subscriber listings and media networks. The eventual outcome, when the dust finally settles and the Web matures. Is that large corporate cable operators and broadcasters will develop sophisticated and advance subscription bundle services. For your broadband access, TV and on-line electronic magazine subscription channels, newspapers and music etc.

Streaming media and playing it will be coupled to these packages. Playing music or viewing movies will all be based on these new forms of subscription bundles, that the user can sign up to.

The large broadcaster media houses will either take over recording labels or do a deal on releases of new music in these new subscription packages.

My concern however, that has been pointed out yet again tonight is the quality of journalism and broadcasting in this Country and World Wide. Our society is becoming more superficial as every day passes. My youngest (Daughter of 4 years), came home today worried about how fat her legs were. Is this what we have become? We are moving in a direction that society will never recover from. Sadly, journalism will continue to deteriorate, especially as the future decisions and direction of these entities will be governed by the dollar of the pound in the name of the shareholder for more growth.

The infrastructure of the UK network is on overload, and with the continued take up for more media content will further strain the network to breaking point.

I am concerned for Aunty, and it's future, the last bastion for quality journalism and broadcasting that is the envy of the World. The BBC sadly are caught in the middle, if she were a commercial entity the reigns would be off and ready to fight for the future of broadcasting, but unfortunately Aunty is having to tread on egg shells.

If anyone in the Government had a single grey cell between them. They would for National security reasons, plan a network infrastructure programme for the length and breadth of the United Kingdom to meet the Nations demands in security and communications. Get an EEC rebate and grant as we are in the EU whether you like it or not, for funding. Create employment at the same time, and have the whole package (license) incorporated into The 'British Broadcasting and Communications Corporation' (Incorporated 2010).

This is where we need to go and there would never be an issue over the TV license ever again or DRM as the whole shooting match for TV, Broadband, Radio, Telephone would be incorporated in one hit.
