DAB+ is a life-ring which might be able to save DAB. Ofcom seem to be typically wishy-washy on the subject though (shades of HD freeview). http://www.wohnort.demon.co.uk/DAB/uknat.html is a pretty good summary of why DAB sounds so awful.
