Hi,
Sorry to have a little negative feedback about this application, and it
isn't the standard DRM or platform-neutral bit.

I am using it under Windows XP from a hotel wifi connection. The Wifi
connection is a bit "iffy" and (as is quite normal for Wifi) stops randomly
from time to time.

When this happens, the iPlayer Desktop does realise and goes into "offline"
mode, and back into "online" mode.

However, what I discover later - and it is hours later - is that the
download is corrupt. For example:

- Doctor Who Xmas Edition, loss of sound after 32 minutes (of 60). Pictures
are OK still.

- QI Xmas Edition, loss of picture and sound after 16 minutes

But I got all of HIGNFY and a few other programmes.

The reason, I suspect, is that FLV files are designed for downloading,
rather than streaming, so expect the BER to be infitite (no errors, because
the download can retry). MPEG type files would be able to resynchronise
themselves because they are designed that way,

So, please, can you add a CRC32/SHA1/MD5 test to the file after is has
downloaded please (just before grabbing that secret licence key)?

If the download is found to be corrupt, as the files are so huge and
downloading takes so long, my suggestion would be to compute the
CRC32/SHA1/MD5 for each 1Mb block, and for a test to be done on each block
to discover the corrupt section/section and redownload them,

Thanks ... sorry to moan.
