Some of the ones in Birmingham are... But only usually replaced when the old ones burn out or get broken (which I fully agree with, no point emitting CO2 driving round and replacing every single one when they still work perfectly - the don't-replace-old-cars-with-new-cars argument). 2009/1/12 <[email protected]> What's the environmental footprint/audit for the locking used on DVDs to *force* the copyright notice (or the stupid 'you wouldn't steal a car" conceit) on viewers? And the anti-piracy trailers on the start of films... the leccy to power the bulb, and to spin the reels, and then the power for the HVAC to cool the projector, and the lighting, and the aircon in the theatre... I've never understood why they expend so much energy trying to coerce people to not pirate movies when the only people seeing the films are the ones who've just paid upwards of £5 to see the film in the first place. And as a footnote, urgh - I hate how gmail formats its HTML inline indents for quoted replies
