I've got one (though I've not signed up to to the VOD service). You can get them for around 30 quid on ebay.
The best thing about it is that you can pull recordings off of it over the network (no DRM needed to "enable" this sort of functionality either ;-) It's also useful as UPNP network media player. I doubt it will work with Freeview HD, simply because it doesn't have a DVB-T2 chip. I would guess a future upgraded model will.
