This situation has now been resolved - relevant machines have been
rebooted and a normal service has been restored.
 
We're looking in to the actual root cause of the problem as we speak.
 
Apologies for any disruption caused.

        The http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/ has got stuck again.  It's
showing programmes for about 2210 last night.  It's been doing that a
few times lately.

        Who is one supposed to tell these days?
