Hello,

I've installed Backuppc on my ubuntu machines and my macs. I would
like to improve it's use on the mac. In particular, I would like a
reliable method to rsync mac-to-mac and mac-to-linux that would
preserve resource forks. I know that apple's rsync function has an
extension:

-E --extended-attributes copy extended attributes, resource forks

but this does not work with backuppc. I might note that the apple
tar file does store the resource of a file as a pair:

filename -> (filename,._filename)

and that this is the same method that unison uses (which works both
mac-to-mac and mac-to-linux).

In the meantime, I've written a startup script (/Library/StartupItems/
backuppc) that I could contribute.

-Chris
