That is BackupPC. BackupPC is alive and well as far as I know.
I'm not involved with BackupPC development.
BackupPCd on the other hand has not had significant development since
2006.

There has been no announcement by Craig that he stopped developing it. Grant
it there hasn't been any activity, but it works great.
