Hi,

Sincere apologies for the late reply.

I've given the user 'backuppc' full control for the share 'ukaudio', and this
morning, after performing the backup for nearly 4 days, it has failed yet
again. I've looked into the XferErrors log, and the main error that stands out
is:

WARNING: The "syslog" option is deprecated
[ skipped 1 lines ]
tar:316 tarmode is now full, system, hidden, noreset, quiet
[ skipped 4517519 lines ]
NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED listing \System Volume Information\SRM\*
[ skipped 499 lines ]

This is down to permissions I believe, but I have given the user full control
and they're no locked files to my knowledge. I would just like to know is there
anything blatantly obvious that I'm missing?

Thanks,
Marc

It seems to me not al files are failing, just some files and folders. Is it
possible the files are locked?

Or some users create files that are only accessible by that user. You could try
to apply the read and list permissions again an let it recursively update the
entire the directory tree.

Met vriendelijke groeten / Best regards,

You should be able to test your settings by using smbclient in
interactive mode, logging in as the same user. If you can't list a
directory or get a file in interactive mode, it's not going to work in
the tar mode that backuppc uses either. You'll probably also see the
same from another windows box if you map the share with the same
credentials.
