If it is starting BackupPC_nightly during the morning then something is wrong with your setup. Either your wakeup schedule is wrong, you have too many machines being backed up or your backup pc server is too slow. Decoupling the backup and restore tasks from BackupPC_nightly is planned as a feature in the next major release. But I currently don't have a firm date for that.
