Hi Paul,

As just a small example, for any user with Firefox, all their bookmarks are here. For any user with Thunderbird that's where their mail is found. And these can be backed up even if those apps are open at the time. Back up EVERYTHING you can, then choose what you want to restore. Les, you have an unusual setup where you don't need or want this data, but for most users, it is precisely the most critical stuff to get.

Yeah i realise that, but i dont have sites where users are using these fantastic open source products yet (im trying though!). And as i said all my sites use IMAP for mail, so the mail is actually stored on a server, not like POP where its downloaded to the pc.

I really hate the Microsoft directory structure, its a pain in the arse!
Why you cant just have a home directory with folders like ".firefox", ".internetexplorer", ".thunderbird" to hold all those settings like Linux does.

if i had a special case i would just do a different config.pl per pc, or actually set firefox/thunderbird to store their profiles elsewhere.

Regards,

Les
