there's also the issue of rsync's memory consumption, which can be pretty
bad on a big tree of hardlinked files. On a machine with 512MB RAM, rsync
ran it out of memory and brought it to a grinding halt when trying to sync
100GB of backuppc pool from one drive to another (installing a new array).
