I have a host, our imap/vweb server, that is starting to take upwards of a day to do a full on over 100bT. XferMethod is rsyncd, but since it's upwards of a half million files on fairly creaky older hardware I'm not sure how much it can be sped up. Incrementals of 10k files only take 2 hours which isn't a big problem. And frankly, I don't mind that it's taking as long as it does, but I'm wondering if there's any way to make certain that the backup _only_ happens over the weekend. By some kind of luck it has been starting over the weekend and finishing before we get in on Monday morning.

I know I could set blackout periods, but those seem to be more aligned towards not starting a backup during the business day rather than what I'm looking for. Or are they more powerful than I'm giving them credit for?

It probably won't _hurt_ to backup during a weekday, but I feel warmer and fuzzier on the inside knowing that it'd be a real fluke for something to be held open or otherwise non-backup-able on the weekend, while it's a distinct possibility during the week.
