...coincidentally, see the following thread that i just read on the rsync list: http://lists.samba.org/archive/rsync/2006-January/014393.html Summary, when rsyncing huge files, you may run into a hash table overflow that causes syncs to take forever. Manually increasing the block size that rsync uses helped the original poster, but in general this approach seems problematic.
