I'm not sure if rsync -H (--hard-link) option is support by BackupPC
2.1.2pl0.

It's not supported in that version.

CVS has the necessary support for hardlinks, but a new version of File::RsyncP
is needed too, which I haven't tested enough to release yet.

Will the new rsync behavior also be generally faster that the old? Currently the rsync method doesn't seem to be any faster than tar, and maybe even a little slower. I took this to mean that besides hardlinks, some other features of rsync were probably not being utilized, e.g. minimizing traffic by sending only the contents of changed files over the link. Currently it doesn't matter much to me, but it seems like it would become an issue if and when I want to do remote backups over a low-bandwidth link.
