Hi,
I have been running BackupPC-2.1.1 on a gentoo system for months and it
has worked fine. Last week I edited the main config file to change the
$Conf{RsyncArgs} to account for an upgrade to rsync-2.6.8 (I changed the
flag --devices to -D). I restarted backuppc and since then the backups
all go as scheduled, but I noticed the pool size (no compression)
reported as 0 and these errors in the log file:

I had upgraded perl perhaps a month ago from 5.8.6 to 5.8.7 and rebuilt
all my perl modules. I searched the list archive but could not find
anything close to my problem except this:
