Hi,

We're using BackupPC to run the backups for our office network over
samba.

The problem we have is that a lot of users are on wireless and wired
connections and roam about the building. This means that each machine
can have 2 ip addresses assigned, one of which may or may not work at
any point in time.

Using "nmblookup <laptopname>" returns 2 ip addresses and samba always
just tries to use the 1st one, which sometimes doesn't work.

I have written a shell script to return the active ip address for a
machine name (loops round the ip addresses and checks for a successful
ping).

Does anyone know of a way of either getting samba to try both addresses
or getting backuppc to use my script to find the machine names?

Thanks

Jordan
