Well, I've heard three responses in favour, and SourceForge has  
approved the project.  It's currently available in CVS there, the  
project page is <https://sourceforge.net/projects/n-backuppc>.  I  
won't be making a formal release of this branch until I get a chance  
to test it, and a broken 100A fusebox means that neither the Nagios  
nor the BackupPC servers that I use are up.

Feel free to check it out, there is no install script and you may  
need to edit a couple hardcoded module locations.  It currently lacks  
some standard command-line arguments (such as --help), but that will  
gradually change.

And to the BackupPC developers, thanks for BackupPC_serverMesg. It  
showed me how to talk to the server.
