Does it help? I cannot deduce any further helpful diagnosis from this.
The --include might look odd, but it worked for almost a year (roughtly
100 backups), here is the host specific config file:

The only important changes in the global config file is
$Conf{ClientTimeout} = 28800;
What I now try is to exclude all but one share name and check where it
fails.
