Use Windows Backup to save System State data. Create a job that runs periodically and saves the data on the local machine. To restore from bare metal:
1) Install Windows and get the system on the network. 2) Use BackupPc to restore the files to the new system. 3) Use Windows Backup to extract the System State data files to a non- system directory. 4) Boot Windows installer, and invoke Repair. Use the System State data files to restore the registry and security information. This works pretty well when there is only one user on the system. It can work with multiple users, as the entire registry is saved. However, you may want to use the FAST Wizard periodically to save settings for each user. These would be restored by logging as each user and restoring from the saved FAST data files.
