Hi Everyone,

I've been using BackupPC for about a year now, works wonderfully!
Kudos on the new 3.0 release.

I'm having some trouble backing up a Mac OS X machine to a linux box.
Here's some stats on both machines:

Server: Fedora Core 6 (latest patches)
rsync  version 2.6.8  protocol version 29  (rpm - rsync-2.6.8-3.1)
BackupPC 3.0.0

Client: Mac OS X Server 10.4.8 (setup like on http://
www.nerdylorrin.net/wiki/Wiki.jsp?page=BackupPC)
rsync version 2.6.3 protocol version 28
Client config:
$Conf{BackupFilesExclude} = ['.Trash', '/Trash', '/automount', '/
Network', '/private/vaar/automount', '/private/var/run', '/private/
var/vm', '/private/var/tmp', '/private/tmp', 'Caches',
'CachedMessages'];
$Conf{TarClientPath} = '/usr/bin/xtar';
I did not install the "resource-fork aware rsync" described at
nerdylorrin, should I?

XferLOG.bad:
full backup started for directory /
Running: /usr/bin/ssh -q -x -l root 192.168.1.254 /usr/bin/rsync --
server --sender --numeric-ids --perms --owner --group -D --links --
hard-links --times --block-size=2048 --recursive --ignore-times . /
Xfer PIDs are now 30075
Got remote protocol 28
Negotiated protocol version 28
Sent exclude: /tmp
Sent exclude: /proc
Sent exclude: /sys
Read EOF:
Tried again: got 0 bytes
fileListReceive() failed
Done: 0 files, 0 bytes
Got fatal error during xfer (fileListReceive failed)
Backup aborted (fileListReceive failed)

Any advice?

Thank You,
Troy
