I'm using version 3.0.0 on ubuntu edgy. I did not use the ubuntu package,
but downloaded from sourceforge. Things seem to be working ok, but recently
I had a problem with browsing backups. On one of the hosts, the backup
browser showes only 1 file. When browsing backup #44, at the top it says:

This display is being merged with backup #43

Backup #43 is a full, and displays ok. If I go to backup history, it shows
only one file in #44. However, if I go to the pc/host/44/froot directory
there are lots of files. The rsync module that grabs all files for
backup is called [root].

There are 2 backups like this (#44 and #42), on one host. Rsyncd is used
for all backups. The host in question is running XP sp2, and
cygwin-rsyncd-2.6.8.

Any ideas what might be wrong?

Thanks.

BTW ...

I have seen some discussions about scheduling of backups and cron and ...
My method is to use the built-in scheduler, but have cron come in
a little early (every 2 weeks) and force full backups. That way, if one is
missed, the built in scheduler will take care of it on the next wakeup.
There are 3 helper scripts to let cron do this.

Also BTW ...

I configured apache a little differently than the suggestion (or maybe I
just didn't understand it). All files (including cgi-bin) go under
/var/www/BackupPC. Or you could use an alias. A virtual host (backup)
is configured to handle BackupPC, and it uses a SuexecUserGroup directive.
This way, all configuration is in /etc/apache2/sites-available/backuppc,
with a link to sites-enabled.

I can provide further info if anyone's interested.

Also also BTW ...

This is a very slick program.
