Several ways of cloning the backuppc archive for an offsite copy have
been discussed here previously, but I'm not sure if there have been any
conclusions about the best technique. I'm currently running a software
RAID1 array created with 3 members where one is an external drive that
is periodically sync'd, removed and rotated offsite. This seems to work
OK and only requires the partition to be unmounted momentarily while
the external disk is removed from the raid to have a clean file system
that can be mounted in a laptop for disaster recovery. However I'm
planning to build a new system soon and would like to compare schemes
others might be using, like lvm snapshots or exotic filesystems (does
zfs do snapshots that can be image-copied?).
