I know, it's discussed several times, but I can't find a solution for my
verification problem.

It's an installation on Ubuntu-6.06.1 LTS with apt-get, not compiled!

I created a keyfile on my BackupPc-Server (ssh-keygen -t rsa).
I copied the file "id_rsa.pub" to my client into /root/.ssh/.
Then I did "cat ./id_rsa.pub > authorized_keys2" and got the file
"authorized_keys2".
>From my BackupPc-Server I did "ssh [EMAIL PROTECTED]". I confirmed the
notice.
It creates a file "known_hosts" within "/root/.ssh/" on my BackuPc-Server
After that I can connect without PW by "ssh [EMAIL PROTECTED]".
It sounds perfect.

When I start a full backup with "rsync" I receive:

Running: /usr/bin/ssh -C -x -l root IP_of_my_client /usr/bin/rsync --server
--sender --numeric-ids --perms --owner --group -D --links --times
--block-size=2048 --recursive --exclude=/proc --exclude=/mnt
--exclude=/lost+found --exclude=/swapfile --exclude=/tmp --ignore-times . /
Xfer PIDs are now 17508
Got remote protocol 1953722184
Fatal error (bad version): Host key verification failed.

Can't write 57 bytes to socket
Sent exclude: /proc
Sent exclude: /mnt
Sent exclude: /lost+found
Sent exclude: /swapfile
Sent exclude: /tmp
Read EOF: Connection reset by peer
Tried again: got 0 bytes
fileListReceive() failed
Done: 0 files, 0 bytes
Got fatal error during xfer (fileListReceive failed)
Backup aborted (fileListReceive failed)

I can't see any sense in "Host key verification failed", because I can
connect by "ssh [EMAIL PROTECTED]" without PW.

Where should the socket be created: server or client, and where?

Thanks in advance.
Achim
