I'm at work, so can't check on the rsync installation on the second
laptop.  I am pretty certain it is installed, but will check this
evening.  

I can confirm that the /etc/ssh/sshd_config file is identical on both
laptops, as I checked this last night while googling for a solution to
this problem.
