Hello,
I just want to provide some transfer-rates for an 2-GB first time fullbackup
from a Novell Sharelist, which is full backuped via rsync from a local NCP-
mounted Netware Share.
2GB in aproximately 1 hour over /mnt/ncp/server mnt/nfs/NASdevice resulting
in 0.6 MB for the first full-backup
Would be pleasured, if you can give me some feedback about Transfer-Rates
For me they seem rather low for 1GBit Transfers.
I experimented with tar over NFS, which achieved 50 % more Backup-Time
The /var/lib/backuppc folder is imported from a 3 TB RAID-5 NAS-Device (Home
Office Brand 1600$) via NFS (-o noatime,rsize=8129,wsize=8192), so that the
backup-files have to
- travel from Novell-Server (1GBit via NCP )
- to Backuppc-Server (1GBit) via same network interface
- to NAS-Device via NFS
Workload on backuppc was around 7.5% - 15 %, no swapping but memory (512MB)
nearly used, workload on Novell minimal
The fullbackup comprised:
TOTALS
Backup# Type #Files Size/MB Duration MB/sec
0 full 28554 2199.5 61.6 min.
0.60
EXISTING FILES
#Files Size/MB
2963 149.4
NEW FILES
#Files Size/MB
27518 2051.2
