Hi,

finally I resolved most of my issues:

1) I had the global-config ("top-dir") to do backups
on /mnt/backup_disk/backuppc...
Changed now /var/lib/backuppc to point (softlink) to the external
(usb)disk, too.
--> the link-errors are gone. (*)
--> pooling seems to work proper (before it was always at 0)

Now it makes sense - seems to use "/var/lib/backuppc" hard-coded and not
taken from config-file; Linking between different file-systems makes no
sense at all.

2) in my config for localhost there is a entry for "/" backup, but
there was also a empty one " ". this caused errors like:
2007-11-19 19:56:34 full backup started for directory /
2007-11-19 20:06:35 unexpected repeated share name skipped (**)
2007-11-19 20:06:40 Backup aborted ()

**) see the double-blank char between "name" and "skipped"

3) forced in ./bashrc the LOCALE* variables to "C" ( before, I got
always errors like "perl... LANG= (unset)" )

Performance-wise learning's:
- Memory: ( 64MB do work, but swap like hell ) - 300MB run smother. ( I
limit to do only 1 concurrent backup )
- Compression: turning off increased the transfer-rate and resulted in
much faster backups. ( CPU is at 500MHz - YMMV )
