Hi all:

For preservation of backup data and archival snapshots, we are
planning on using BackupPC_tarPCCopy to duplicate the spool area onto
another disk that is mounted using TrueCrypt or some other encryption
software.

Now obviously we would need the encrypted volume password and
truecrypt software just to mount the archive volume, but what would be
needed to browse/restore the data from a command line shell.

Is there a minimal configuration of BackupPC/perl that can be created
to allow the recovery/extration of the data?

My idea is to use a live cd that can be booted to allow a command line
browsing/recovery utility to be fired up (assuming one exists or can be
made to exist). Hmm, I wonder if BackupPC_tarCreate -h hostname -n -1
-s share -l or -L would suffice for browsing?

Any other ideas, quips, comments, evasions, questions, answers
or even a "your crazy man".
